Check Out This Diet You Might Have Not Heard Of: Raw Food Diet

Concocting a perfectly healthy diet is difficult in the name of a fit body. Fad diets have been popping out everywhere but most of them don’t even bring their said golden promises. Constantly relying on fast food or microwave meals isn’t good for your health at all. With concerns about health and nutrition, your diet should be of utmost importance. Of the many diets that are newly introduced, the raw food diet (though it sounds weird) has earned its loyal band of followers.
Why People Go Raw
There are a number of reasons why people choose to eat raw food. One of the biggest benefits it has is believed to be weight loss. That’s because most raw foods contain low amounts of calories, sodium, and fat that help in losing weight while also giving a number of health benefits like reducing the risk of developing heart disease. You’ll also get more vitamins since you’ll be eating food in its most natural form. Getting more vitamins and minerals will help your body recover and maintain its optimum level of health. Aside from that, eating raw food gives you a refreshing feeling since most natural ingredients can cleanse the toxins within the body.
What People Eat
Raw food diet mostly includes fresh fruits and vegetables but some people also include raw eggs, fish, and meat in their diet. It really depends on your preference. You can make a fresh garden salad by hand by using lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and other vegetables that you want to put in there. What matters is that the food that you’re eating is fresh. When it comes to consuming unpasteurized products or raw meat, great care should be exercised since risks are unavoidable when eating raw food. Make sure that you wash vegetables, fruits, fish and meat thoroughly before eating them to remove any bacteria.
The Types of Recipes You Can Make
There are several types of recipes that you can cook yourself when it comes to a raw food diet. First is a recipe composed of veggies like garden salads rich in lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, dressed with a small amount of olive oil. Fruit salads are also great since there isn’t a specific combination for them; you can just put together what you fancy. Next is raw meat and fish, though a few may think this is unsanitary, the proper preparation makes meat and fish clean and even more nutritious than when they are cooked.
Popular Raw Food Recipes
The recipes in raw food preparation just continue to pile up with the endless possibilities that this diet entails. One popular recipe is the raw brownie recipe which is a much healthier version than the usual brownie. All you have to do is put pecans and dates in your food processor until they’re ground down into bits and they stick together. Once that’s done, you can put everything else in the processor and wait until the mixture turns into an exquisite chocolate blend. Putting it in a refrigerator is optional since chilling it makes the raw brownie easier to cut.
Another popular recipe is a raw vegan salad. With this one, you need sunflower seeds, cashews, pecans, sliced cucumbers, red onion, half of an apple, lemon juice, dill, celery, and salt. All you have to do is throw everything in your food processor and process it for a few minutes and then you’re done! It’s as simple as that. You can let the recipe sit for a while to let the flavors mix evenly but the salad doesn’t last very long so be sure to eat up once it’s ready.
The raw food diet entails a lot of benefits like losing weight. Though it can be a hassle to prepare your food from scratch, the good things that it brings are incredible. You are consuming food at its most natural form so all its essential nutrients are still intact. Just keep in mind that you need to be wary when it comes to preparation, especially with raw fish and meat, since bacteria can grow when it’s not cleaned and prepared properly. If you’re bored with eating your usual oats and nuts diet and want to try a new healthy diet, try this out and see what all the rage is about.
