Nutritious Foods You Should be Eating to Prevent Cancer
Cancer is one of the widely-known diseases and significant causes of deaths all over the world. Many believe that cancer is a hereditary illness, while some say pollution, chemicals, your kind of lifestyle, and the food you eat can cause it too.
Studies show that you can avoid more than fifty percent of cancers when you eat the right kind of food. These foods are called superfoods. Research shows that superfoods can help prevent and lessen the risk of cancer.
Cancer does not choose its victims or ask for your permission. It’s a nightmare for anyone who has to deal with it. Listed below are some nutritious foods that can help you prevent cancer.
Cabbage
It is one of the best foods to prevent cancer, especially rectal and colon cancer. It’s rich in fiber and Vitamin C that your body needs. Fiber keeps the intestinal tract very clean to avoid toxins from building up in your intestinal walls.
Broccoli
It comes in varying types, but the darker the broccoli, the healthier it is. It has the nutrients that will actively prevent cancer, particularly colon and breast cancer. Broccoli’s flavonoids are also to be effective in reducing the chance of ovarian cancer. To have the broccoli’s power to fight off cancer cells it is crucial to have three to five servings in a week. Broccoli contains calcium, which repairs, builds and protects the bones, and also lowers the cholesterol level.
Carrots
This is a good source of fiber for the body. It will help in controlling the bacteria to keep your intestine healthy. You can mix carrots and cabbage for a healthy side dish or snack. They will provide you the daily requirement of fiber needed by your body.
Spinach
Spinach has the antioxidants you need to fight skin, prostate, breast, and stomach cancer. Vitamin K in this vegetable also strengthens bones, which in turn prevents osteoporosis. Spinach tastes good when eaten raw rather than cooked.
Brussels Sprouts
It has the nutrients to boost your immune system. They help in the prevention of damage to the DNA and reduce the spread of breast cancer. Eating Brussels sprouts will reduce your chances of getting lung, prostate, and colon cancer.
Blueberries
Of all the fruits, blueberries are high in antioxidants that will protect you from cancer and other serious illnesses. Studies claim that blueberries are also useful in lowering cholesterol levels.
Plums
This helps prevent cancer and prevents other diseases. The antioxidants of the fruit protect fats that surround the blood from any damage, and in return, there is less risk of cancer and heart illnesses. Plums also help with diabetes.
Raspberries
It is one of the most healthy and nutritious fruits. It prevents cancer, heart disease, and varicose veins. Iron is significantly absorbed because the fruit is rich in Vitamin C.
Other fruits like papaya prevent the nitrosamines’ absorption you get from processed food and soil cultivation, which are significant causes of cancer. Bananas are rich in potassium, and red grapes are a good source of bioflavonoid, which all help prevent cancer.
Fish
The white meat of fish is a good source of Omega 3 and fatty acids essential to prevent breast cancer. They are also healthy for the brain and heart. The fish oil is excellent in preventing the growth of prostate and colon cancer cells.
Water, green teas, and juice are essential fluids to keep our body healthy. Five liters of water daily removes all the toxins from the body. Fruits and vegetable juices provide vitamins and nutrients that boost the immune system and decrease the risk of illnesses. According to the America Institute of Cancer Research, green tea has phytochemicals that can stop the transformation of healthy body cells to cancer cells.
Soy, milk, granules, tofu, and pulse are all excellent sources of protein. Like green tea, they have phytochemicals that prevent breast cancer. Any form of soy will have the same nutrients; don’t choose the processed ones like soy chips, which are rich in salt. You should avoid processed foods like sausages, chips, salami, and soda drinks because they are significant contributors to different types of cancer.
Prevention is better than cure. Eat nutritious foods to live a healthy lifestyle and prevent cancer. Although advanced medical technology can now cure cancer, it is still essential that you should take care of yourself to reduce the risk of getting the disease.
