Aristotle Onassis – Skorpios, $142 Million
Shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis takes credit for being one of the first few millionaires who was able to acquire their very own island. Back in 1968, he purchased the Skorpios island and when he died in 1975, it became a part of his children’s inheritance. Athina Onassis sold the private island to Ekaterina Rybolovleva back in 2013 (which we mentioned earlier) for around $150 million. For certain, no loan was needed there.
