The thought of buying an island tends to pop up in your mind when you have billions in your chequing account. Microsoft co-founder, Paul Allen, purchased an island back in the early 1990s which was worth $13.5 million. He later decided to sell it after his eyes strayed on a better island. It took him around two decades before he got to finally dispose of it for the price of $8 million.
