Terry Melcher and Doris Day
The late Doris Day was a popular actress, singer, and animal rights who stole many hearts with her debut in 1939. She was married four times and has a child from the marriage. Terrence Paul Melcher was a record producer, singer, and songwriter who rose to fame in the 1960s. Doris Day’s only child, Terry Melcher, died in 2004. His father was Day’s first husband, Al Jorden, but he took the name Melcher from his mother’s third husband, manager Martin Melcher.
Terry worked at Columbia Records, establishing himself as a songwriter and producer. He helped mold the sound that became American West Coast rock music, making entertainers famous, including Ry Cooder, The Beach Boys, and The Byrds. Born in 1942 in New York, Terry passed away at 62 years old at his Beverley Hills home from melanoma. He was survived by his son Ryan Melcher.
