Disco diva Minnie Riperton had a huge hit with the catchy 1975 single Lovin’ You and was as one of the first recording artists to sing in the whistle register (even before Mariah Carey!). Sadly, Riperton was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1976 and passed away just a few years later. Her talented daughter, comedian Maya Rudolph, certainly has her mom’s gorgeous eyes. But she may also want to get a DNA test to check and see if she carries the same gene mutation that triggered her mother’s fatal cancer.
Maya is a talented actress and singer as well, and she became a star in the 90s. She was a member of The Rentals and then she was cast on Saturday night Live. Maya is famous for having acted in 50 First Dates, Idiocracy, Grown Ups, and Bridesmaids. She also starred in the sitcom Up All Night. She is no doubt a very talented woman. And its thanks to her mom’s genes that she has found so much success in show biz.
