The Surprising Reason Why Kelly Ripa Will Never Go On The Famous Keto Diet
Known for her fit physique and healthy lifestyle, people were surprised when Kelly Ripa dropped the bomb about her hesitance to try out the Keto diet.
Here’s why.
No to Keto

The host and the Spanish-born actor has been married since 1996 and have three children.
While the 48-year-old has previously stated her distaste for fad diets, her reason for never trying out the trendy Keto diet is not the same. According to Ripa, the diet just requires a level of discipline that she can’t follow at the moment.
Her revelation is a bit ironic given her reputation as a fitness enthusiast and the fact that her own husband, Mark Consuelos is a follower of the diet. Ripa also clarified that Consuelos’ recent choice to go full keto is not a problem at all. In fact, they’ve even found ways to make their different diets work.
The television host cites her love for carbs and bread as one of the ways the couple are a great match. Whenever Consuelos would get a burger and fries on one of their dates out, Ripa would always eat the bun and fries and let him have the protein-rich patty. In the end, the blonde star said she feels like she really deserves to eat carbs because she works out to cancel them out.
The keto (ketogenic) diet is a type of high-fat and very low-carb diet which people have often compared to the Atkins diet. The reduction of carbohydrates in the diet is said to encourage the body to go into a state called ketosis.
Being in this metabolic state helps a person burn more fat for energy. Another benefit of ketosis is that it turns body fat into ‘ketones’ which then gives energy for the brain.
Kelly’s Current Diet

Ripa usually treats herself with a sandwich snack right before going to bed.
So, what does the host eat (besides carbs)? As Bon Appetit reveals, Ripa usually snacks on dried fruit and nuts. She also has a thing for peanut butter especially the chunky Skippy type.
In fact, she even admitted that her choice of late-night guilty pleasure snack is peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She’s a bit particular of the ingredients she uses though. Aside from the Skippy peanut butter, she makes her treats with ciabatta bread and strawberry jam.
She also mentioned starting her day with a cup of Bulletproof coffee, a popular Keto staple. While she has no plans of going full Keto, it seems like her husband’s diet has influenced her a lot.
According to the star, she drinks the ghee-filled coffee drink because it fills her up and keeps her satiated while she shoots her television show.
Fitness Enthusiast

Ripa also likes running as a form of cardio workout.
While the host isn’t afraid of treating herself to tasty snacks, she still keeps a healthy lifestyle through exercise. No wonder she’s still very trim despite those late night PB&J sandwiches.
According to sources, the hardcore fitness enthusiast usually trains for five hours a week. She’s also an avid fan of the AKT In Motion workout, a plan developed by her own personal trainer Anna Kaiser. The workout is a mix of functional training and choreographed dance.
