Judy Garland -Susan Hayward – ‘Valley of the Dolls’
Valley of the Dolls, a drama film directed by Mark Robson, had Barbara Parkins, Sharon Tate, Patty Duke, Susan Hayward, Lee Grant, and Paul Burke as its leading star cast. It was based on Valley of the Dolls, a 1966 novel by Jacqueline Susann.
Despite being a runaway hit at the box office, the film received negative reviews from critics. Mark Robson decided to cast the legendary Judy Garland in the role of Helen Lawson. Judy even came in for a costume test.
However, as per Hollywood lore, she was far from being composed on the sets. This somehow irked director Robson and he made up his mind to replace Judy with Susan Hayward. Now, that’s something not many of you might know.
