Kylie Jenner’s ‘TeaToxing’ Diet Is Dangerous, Experts Says

One of the most followed television personalities on social media today is Kylie Jenner, in fact she is currently at the eight spot on the most followed celebrities on Instagram. At such a very young age, she has been on the limelight because of her family’s reality television series that has been airing on the E! network for 14 years now. Alongside her mother Kris, sisters Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, and Kendall and other members of their family, Kylie has been on the spotlight and she’s considered to be one of the most popular trendsetters of this generation. Which is why whatever she eats, whatever she wears, is something that people seem to be following. When she revealed the secret to her amazing figure, people just went crazy.
TEATOX WITH KYLIE JENNER
Reality star and entrepreneur Kylie Jenner swears by this particular tea known as Lyfe Tea that she used to ‘teatoxing’, which is when a person is actually only consuming tea for a particular number of days. The youngest Kardashian/Jenner sister revealed that she doesn’t actually go hardcore when it comes to working out in the gym and that teatox is the main reason for her fit tummy. Her eldest sister Kourtney, who is also very fit despite being a mother of three and in her late 30’s, has been trying this teatox as well.
People then started to wonder how exactly this teatoxing works, well basically Lyfe Tea is a blend traditional herbs that actually helps with the body’s digestion in order to eliminate all the toxins that are released in form of fat when trying to lose weight. It also promises to boost the drinker’s energy level without any help from artificial ingredients as well as to help calm and cleanse the body. How it actually works is that you have consumed a cup of Lyme Tea every single time you wake up in the morning and also a cup every evening to get rid of all the toxins you may have got that day. It was said to cleanse the entire digestive tract because of all the unwanted toxins that may be stopping the body from losing weight as well as the ones that may be making the body feel bloated and preventing the body to absorb all the nutrients from the foods. However, according to experts detoxing is only good for like 2-4 weeks, beyond that is very dangerous.
IS IT SAFE?
Kylie Jenner is not the only one who has tried to detox, in fact, a lot of celebrities have tried it, then again, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they actually do it all the time. According to dietitians and nutritionists, detoxing is not exactly safe especially when it comes to teatoxes. These teatoxes may actually contain laxative senna into their teas even if they don’t really point it out. It may not have been as natural as it would seem. Laxatives don’t really have any impact when it comes to losing fat and even on calorie absorption and detoxification, so the fact that some teatox have it is a mystery. But consuming laxatives for more than 2 weeks can be very dangerous and may damage your colon and may even cause a malfunction in your heart.
The U.S. National Library of Medicine warning says that it is not safe to use senna for longer than two weeks because it may cause the bowel to stop functioning normally and it might start depending on laxatives which could be very dangerous. Repeating teatoxing month after month could get rid of the electrolytes and without it, the heart and muscles may malfunction. According to nutritionist Steven Grant, senna that could be found in laxatives works by stimulating the colon to be able to contract more than normal. Detoxing doesn’t really have any scientific research backing so promoting that it has some sort of magical effect when it comes to detox and weight loss with no detailed dosage uses is shameful. Grant also said that those teas are often endorsed by skinny women so it also promotes disorderly eating.
The best possible way to lose weight is still to eat the healthy kinds and the right amount of food that is partnered up with decent and good quality sleep as well as regular exercise. So teatoxing may not really be a good way to lose weight despite having your favorite celebrity endorsing it.
