Shane MacGowan – 1957
Shane MacGowan is a 61-year-old English-born Irish recording artist and vocalist. He serves as the punk band
Pogues’ principal songwriter and has also produced solo materials. MacGowan had his start at quite an early age and already had an array of recorded songs by the age of 12. His impeccable mastery of the English language earned him a literary prize when he was 13 years old. On the 2nd of June 2018, MacGowan received The Ivors Inspiration Award, owing to his role and contribution to the music industry. He’s had trouble with the law and singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor is known to have ratted him out to the police in 2001 for drug possession.
