Stars From Hollywood’s Golden Era Who Are Surprisingly Still Alive And Kicking – Find Out What They’re Up To Now

Sidney Poitier – 1927

If you are a young person who has barely watched any flicks from the Golden Age, the name and face of Sidney Poitier may still strike some recognition. Probably not because he was an exceptional actor or a notable ambassador, but because he was the first male actor of Bahamian descent to win the Oscar Award for Best Actor for his portrayal in 1963’s Lilies of the Field. His acting career lasted for a long time, and so did his affair with the talented Diahann Caroll. He later married and settled down with Canadian actress, Joanna Shimkus. Interesting fact: Poitier was born two months premature and not expected to survive, but because of the loving care of his parents, he made it and became the great man he was destined to be.
