You Won’t Believe These Photos from the 1969 Woodstock Festival: From Eccentric Spectators to Spellbinding Performances from Names like Jimi Hendrix.
Sly & the Family Stone – I Want To Take You Higher
The gigantic glasses and chunky linked choker give Sly Stone an authentic ’60s look. But during his passionate performance of “I Want to Take You Higher” on the morning of day two of Woodstock ’69, his unique style was the last thing on anyone’s mind. In fact, the crowd was too busy screaming “Higher” to his call-and-response prompt.
“Sly & The Family Stone” also performed songs like “You Can Make It If You Try,” “Everyday People,” and “Dance To The Music.” And the crowd was having so much fun, they called for two encores. Of course, Sly had to give the people what they wanted.
