You Won’t Believe These Photos from the 1969 Woodstock Festival: From Eccentric Spectators to Spellbinding Performances from Names like Jimi Hendrix.
Grateful Dead, Singing in the Dark
The downpour during Woodstock hardly put a damper on the crowd’s excitement, but it caused a lot of trouble for many of the bands set to perform. And it’d be challenging to provide an extraordinary performance when you have to deal with technical glitches and damaged equipment.
Thanks to the problems with sound equipment, “Grateful Dead” had to endure long delays before beginning their set. And even during their performance, they had to battle with the limited lighting on a dark stage. But from this photo, you couldn’t tell that they were having an off night as they managed to pull off a 90-minute performance.
