You Won’t Believe These Photos from the 1969 Woodstock Festival: From Eccentric Spectators to Spellbinding Performances from Names like Jimi Hendrix.
Bob Dylan & The Band
Bob Dylan and his former backing band, which funny enough, was known as “The Band,” were featured heavily in advertisements and posters for Woodstock. And once people knew they could see New York’s most famous citizen perform live, they were only too excited to show up at the festival.
But hopes were dashed in the end because a motorcycle accident left Dylan unable to attend nor perform at Woodstock. But despite their disappointment, the crowd gave “The Band” a warm reception. So it’s difficult to understand why they later refused to be associated with the festival nor their well-received performance.
