Leslie West and the Mountain

Leslie West, Felix Pappalardi, and Steve Knight named their band after West’s solo album, “Mountain.” And after playing three shows on the West Coast, they made the trek back East for their fourth, which turned out to be a gig at Woodstock.

Though they lacked the widespread fame of bands like “The Band” or musical acts like Jimi Hendrix and Joe Cocker, “Mountain” was excited about performing for a crowd of around half a million. And as you can see, West was more than delighted to play with his band at the evening slot at Woodstock.
